The 1-877-3HCRIME (1-877-342-7163) phone line will allow individuals to report hate crimes citywide
and gain access to valuable resources and support networks. This hotline is part of Mayor Jorge Elorza’s One
Providence initiative aimed at protecting and serving every resident of the city regardless of race,
ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, political affiliation, religion, or disability.
The Hotline is meant to serve constituents and visitors of Providence who are experiencing any kind of hate crime which the FBI has defined as “a criminal offense that is, at least partially, motivated by a bias toward a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity.” This resource is not meant to be one size fits all. Depending on the nature of your topic, the call screener will support you in a variety of ways including emergency management and connections to resource referrals, advocacy groups and additional requests for city services.
Rhode Island Crime Victim Compensation Program
Description:
If you or a loved one has suffered personal injury from a violent crime, the Rhode Island Crime Victim Compensation Program may be able to help.
This program was created to help victims with the many costs associated with violent crime. The program provides financial compensation to crime victims for such expenses as medical bills, loss of earnings and funeral expenses, up to $25,000.

Description:
The Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Unit investigates and mediates consumer complaints concerning unfair and unlawful business practices and misleading advertising arising out of alleged violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If groups of people are victimized by a deceptive trade practice, this office may file in the Superior Court a civil investigative demand, which is a formal investigation. In appropriate cases, a lawsuit to stop the illegal business practice may be initiated.

2-1-1 is the statewide resource center for information and referrals, and it comes with the support and expertise of a national network of referral experts.
2-1-1 provides a trained and caring human connection – a call specialist – who helps people find assistance on everything from childcare needs and mental health issues, food and heating assistance, to gambling problems and elder care services. In the event of a significant storm or natural disaster, United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island support state agencies and connects people to critical services.
Women’s Center of Rhode Island
Description:
Women’s Center of Rhode Island, a member of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, has continued to provide comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence for nearly 40 years. Their comprehensive programs and services include shelter, case management, life skills coaching, parenting, counseling, advocacy, referrals and support to help clients access education, employment, health and legal services, protective orders, and safe housing.
