The 1-877-3HCRIME (1-877-342-7163) phone line will allow individuals to report hate crimes citywide
and gain access to valuable resources and support networks. This hotline is part of Mayor Jorge Elorza’s One
Providence initiative aimed at protecting and serving every resident of the city regardless of race,
ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, political affiliation, religion, or disability.

The Hotline is meant to serve constituents and visitors of Providence who are experiencing any kind of hate crime which the FBI has defined as “a criminal offense that is, at least partially, motivated by a bias toward a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity.” This resource is not meant to be one size fits all. Depending on the nature of your topic, the call screener will support you in a variety of ways including emergency management and connections to resource referrals, advocacy groups and additional requests for city services.
