HealthSource RI is Rhode Island’s state health insurance exchange, where individuals, families and small businesses can access affordable health coverage that meets their needs and their budgets.  HealthSource RI is the only place individuals and families are able to receive a federal tax credit to help pay for insurance.  For those who qualify, free coverage through Medicaid is available.

All plans offer the same essential benefits – including doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital care, and preventive screenings.  No one can be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition or other health reason.

Purchasing insurance through the HealthSource RI marketplace gives Rhode Islanders and small employers the opportunity to compare plans from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island and UnitedHealthcare, as well as dental insurance from Delta Dental and Blue Cross Dental.

Description:

The Clinic is…legions of volunteers, community partners, and supporters throughout Rhode Island who share our belief that health care should be available for all, regardless of income. The Clinic provides nearly 7,000 patient visits annually to over 2,000 patients by mobilizing our active statewide corps of over 700 volunteers and community partners, a lean professional staff of 7 full-time equivalents, and 7 AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers. With an annual budget of just $1 million, the Clinic leverages over $5 million in additional donated health services and medical supplies to provide vital medical care to Rhode Island’s uninsured, low-income adults. Unlike a walk-in clinic, emergency room, or urgent care setting, the Clinic provides a medical home that includes coordinated health services comprised of primary care, labs and diagnostics, specialty care, prescription medications, follow-up visits, counseling and wellness programs that help uninsured adults get and stay healthy. The Clinic is also a strategic link to education and training in the health care field. The Clinic collaborates with leading academic and training partners to ensure that students in the health care field gain real-world experience and skills that lead to graduation, certification, and licensure.
