Description:

The Department of Human Services supports low-income working families by providing access to affordable, high-quality early care and afterschool programs. Child Care Assistance program (CCAP) is available to families who meet income guidelines and are working a minimum of 20 hours per week at or above Rhode Island’s minimum wage. Child Care assistance is also available to families participating in the RI Works program.

Description:

Head Start is a federally funded program for pregnant women, children ages birth to five years old and their families. The Head Start program is operated by local nonprofit organizations in greater Rhode Island. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive free medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.

2-1-1 is the statewide resource center for information and referrals, and it comes with the support and expertise of a national network of referral experts.

 

2-1-1 provides a trained and caring human connection – a call specialist – who helps people find assistance on everything from childcare needs and mental health issues, food and heating assistance, to gambling problems and elder care services. In the event of a significant storm or natural disaster, United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island support state agencies and connects people to critical services.
